SACMO ENDORSES THE NRA CIVIL RIGHTS DEFENSE FUND FOR LTC FUNDS

December 22, 2003

Dear SACMO Supporter/Subscriber:

As you know, SACMO about exhausted itself helping to getting HB-349 through the Missouri General Assembly and past the Governor’s veto.  Now we are being asked, “Where should SACMO supporters donate money to help get LTC past the Missouri Supreme Court?”  In truth, lawsuits, courts and attorneys are not our area of expertise.  But there is a process called, “Due Diligence”, meaning basically doing your homework before you tell someone else what to do.  So, we have just quietly watched the events develop, attended the court hearings and trials, watched and studied, and now, based upon this diligent study, here is where SACMO suggests you should donate your money in order to help pass LTC in the court, and why.

There are really only two main entities on our side in this appeal.  First is Jay Nixon, Attorney General for the State of Missouri and lead council for the defendants.  The second are the attorneys for the National Rifle Association.  It is our understanding that these two entities are most certain to be part of the proceedings and that while Nixon has done a good job so far, the NRA attorneys are legendary for this sort of thing.

The Attorney General has what amounts to “The full faith and credit of the state of Missouri” behind him so he doesn’t need any help from us.

The NRA has been behind us in getting LTC for Missouri since the very beginning.  They have spared no expense, certainly spending amounts way beyond any dues generated from state memberships and have been willing to do any work or try any tactic necessary to get LTC through the legislative process.  The NRA has been there for us, in spades, the whole time.  Moreover, NRA is going to be there for us after it’s all over, too.

For these reasons, SACMO recommends that anyone who cares about securing LTC for honest adults in Missouri and who has some amount that they can afford for the cause, should please send it to the National Rifle Association.  SACMO has been assured that any money received with the memo on the check or in a note “For Missouri RTC” will be used only in Missouri.  Additionally, all such donations are tax deductible.  Please keep a copy for your records.

Checks should be made payable to:  NRA CIVIL RIGHTS DEFENSE FUND, or, NRACRDF.  Mail your check to:
