SECOND

AMENDMENT

COALITION

OF MISSOURI

September 29, 2003

Dear SACMO Supporter/Subscriber:

Everyone (including myself) is enjoying the heck out of our recent legislative victories for License To Carry and Junk Lawsuit Prevention. But has anyone noticed that the letters to the editors are running 3, 4 or 5 to one against us in the papers? The call-in talk shows and news media coverage is most noticeably negative against our point of view. Our enemies are still up to their old tricks. When I was on KMOX last Friday, the anti gun police chief was given over 7 minutes while I was given less than 5. Typical? Sure.

Just about everything that I hear in the media is about how to keep HIDDEN GUNS out of places or what can the public do to protect themselves from this menace. Nothing good - always bad. The underlying assumption, one that the public is in danger of buying, is that nothing good will ever come from this and that it is going to be all bad.

While we are wallowing in our victories the enemies of freedom and gun ownership keep on fighting. How do you think Senator Jon Dolan (our hero from Cuba) and Senator Mike Gibbons (the BIG swing vote) are feeling right now as their names are being besmirched and practically cursed everyday in the news media with hardly any response from our side?

Ladies and Gentlemen, we must pull ourselves out of this victory-induced stupor before it is too late. By our silence we are encouraging bureaucrats in sheriff’s offices and Ron Battel in St. Louis County to play games with the requirements for getting the permits, just like they did with permits to purchase.

It is not too late but we must take up the fight again and we must do it now! How? By writing letters to the editor of every newspaper that we know of in our community: The Labor Tribune, Webster/Kirkwood Times, all the various Suburban Journals, The Metro Voice, The Post-Dispatch, The Riverfront Times and so on. Do it now and do it often. We must beat them back. Also, write directly to your Senator and Representatives thanking them for their vote in favor of HB349 and SB13. All your letters may not make it into the papers but ones directly to the legislators will let them know that you support them and have not forgotten them.

SALESMANSHIP! We must sell a nervous public that all the doom and gloom that is being thrown about is just a backlash from disgruntled losers. We won by using these tactics. Let’s not lose to the anti gunners who want to use similar tactics against us.

And while I am at it, I need to point out that the donations and subscriptions coming into SACMO have all but stopped since we won the BIG victory. BUT THE FIGHT GOES ON! Please don’t forget us. When the next Columbine type of shooting happens again (and it will!) or when the next national politician calls for another gun law or when someone declares that Missouri should outlaw the use of rifles for deer hunting and permit only shotguns or when, God only knows what anti gun scheme next raises it’s ugly head, you are going to need SACMO and will hope that we are still strong. Help us be there! We need you to recruit your friends and family to SACMO. We need you to either buy or sell our AR-15 raffle tickets and we need people to attend our fund raising picnic in the park on Oct. 4th. Please! Help yourself and help us. Keep up the effort. We have won but let’s move on before we lose it all back.

On the plains of hesitation lay the blackened bones of countless millions who, at the very dawn of victory, rested, and resting, DIED.

Dale A. Schmid, President,

The Second Amendment Coalition of Missouri, Inc.
