SECOND
AMENDMENT
COALITION
OF
MISSOURI
August 14, 2003
While other gun rights groups sit and wait and hope for the best from the September 10th veto override session, SACMO is taking the initiative. Overriding Governors Holden’s veto of the License To Carry (LTC) bill (HB349) is just too important and vital to the safety of Missouri’s citizens. We must not just sit and hope. We must, all of us, try what ever we can to keep our 2/3 majority in place. We must win this upcoming veto override!
The new book by Dr. John Lott, "The Bias Against Guns", is powerful, compelling and very convincing. As SACMO’s President, I felt that if any of the
senators in Jefferson City read any part of this book, they will either stay strong on the side of LTC or will be compelled to consider a vote to override Holden’s despicable veto.
Therefore, even though it was a blow to our checking account, SACMO bought a copy for every Senator in Jefferson City and paid to mail it to them. As you are receiving this e-mail alert, they are receiving the book with our letter. I know that “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink” but I believe that if we send enough pro-gun material to them, eventually some of them will get “wet”.
But now I have to ask you for some help.
For an organization that lives on $25.00 per year donations from subscribers, this was a HUGE expense; NECESSARY, maybe even the one extra little step that makes the difference, but it hurt us. That is why I am asking for some help. If anyone of you can see your way clear to make an out-of-the-ordinary donation to help cover some of the expense of the book mailing, it would really help us. We have to be financially strong for other efforts both before the veto override session as well as after. We really need the money to put up a good fight.
Please send an emergency donation to: SACMO, 517 Connie Lane, Manchester, Mo. 63021. There are still 26 days before the veto override session and I’m pretty sure that we will have to do more mailings, as well as organizing trips to Jefferson City. Please help us so that we can be as effective as possible.
Most Sincerely Yours,
Dale
A. Schmid, President,
The
Second Amendment Coalition of Missouri, Inc.
