AMENDMENT COALITION OF MISSOURI A letter from the president 02/21/03
First of all let me state that SACMO
is alive and well. It is actively and effectively fighting for the
Second Amendment rights of Missourians. However, I am dismayed by the
number of individuals that I have met in Jefferson City and other places who
have been told that SACMO is either out of business, dissolved, bankrupt
or something in that vain. It's not true and I am very interested in knowing who
has been saying this.
SACMO in now a pure pro gun organization. The old purpose as stated in our bylaws said that SACMO was incorporated, "To defend, champion and advance the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights, with special emphasis upon the Second Amendment." That has been changed to read that we are incorporated, "to defend, champion and advance the Second Amendment to the United States Bill of Rights." As the twig is bent, so grows the tree. SACMO has now unbent itself. SACMO should never have been deformed into a general purpose civil rights groups in the first place.
The National
Rifle Association and the Missouri Sport Shooting Association
As an NRA annual member continually since 1964, The founder of the U. of Mo. at ST. Louis Rifle Club in 1971, The treasurer for the first ever, Friends of NRA Golden eagle auction and dinner in 1992, runner up for the Missouri Field Representative position in 1993 (lost to Brian Black) and having had the honor of being the St. Louis area Prop. "B" office manager and coordinator, I felt it imperative that SACMO be a part of the NRA. The NRA fights for us and our rights and we should help them in whatever way we can. Former leaders disagreed with this. SACMO is now a member of the Missouri Sport Shooting Association (the official NRA state association in Missouri) and soon we will be doing more with both the NRA and the MSSA.
It is time to get on with the struggle for our Second Amendment rights. We are now
more focused, our web site is back up and running, SACMO is active in the LTC
effort in Jefferson City and we will start working and asking for donations
again so that we will have the funds to
carry on the fight.
I will look forward to visiting with
everyone at the Gun Rights
Rally Day on March 4th in Jefferson City.
Dale A. Schmid, president,
The Second Amendment Coalition of
Missouri
Inc.
