MSSA TO HOST 2004 GUN RIGHTS RALLY

FEBRUARY 2, 2004

The Missouri Sport Shooting Association (MSSA) is pleased to announce that it is hosting, the 2004 GUN RIGHTS RALLY DAY!

Working in cooperation with Second Amendment Coalition of Missouri, Mid-West Friends of GOA, Second Amendment Sisters – Mo. Chapter, Conservation Federation of Missouri and the NRA, the Gun Rights Rally Day for 2004 is to take place in Jefferson City, in the Capital Rotunda, 1st floor on Wednesday, February 25th, starting at 9:00 A. M. until Noon.  This is our opportunity to maintain our presence in Jefferson City.  The legislators must know that we are still active and interested in fighting for our gun rights and this Rally will allow them to see, feel and hear our presence.

The gun rights movement in Missouri faces dangers.  Since the overwhelming victory of passing License To Carry (LTC) legislation through both chambers of the General Assembly and smashing Governor Holden’s veto, our tide of success has been stopped by a couple of legal maneuvers and court actions.

The day before the new LTC law took effect, a preliminary injunction was granted to block its implementation.  Since then the gun rights movement has waited.  First for the trial, then the decision, an appeals process, the actual Supreme Court hearing and now we all wait for another decision.  It’s been over three and a half months!  Waiting around to react to someone else’s decision is a BAD strategy.  We can’t afford to just wait.  While we have waited, the anti gunners have been lobbying and introducing new anti gun bills in Jefferson City. We face the possibility of losing supporters in the General Assembly.

Even if we get a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court, many of our supporters are likely to “slack off”.  We must not let our people “pick up their marbles and go home”.  The fight for our gun rights must go on.  One of the new anti gun bills is to strip out the car carry provision of the new LTC law – and the court hasn’t even ruled on it yet!  WE MUST STAY FOCUSED!  Everyone interested in preserving and advancing our Second Amendment Rights is encouraged to attend this important Gun Rights Rally Day.  This is our chance to thank the legislators that stood up for us and for us to prepare for the future.  Please plan on attending the Gun Rights Rally Day.

 Respectfully Yours,

Dale A. Schmid, President,

The Second Amendment Coalition of Missouri, Inc.
